Kimi Agent Swarm

Parallel subagents for wide research, batch files, and long jobs.

TaskAgentAgentAgent
Agent Swarm assigns pieces of a job to several agents instead of one long sequence.

What Agent Swarm means

Kimi Agent Swarm is a parallel mode. Kimi's help center says Moonshot introduced it on 27 January 2026 with Kimi K2.5. The description is a scale-out architecture: the system creates subagents at run time and assigns pieces of the task, without a person predefining every role. A search for swarm agents, in this product, means that pattern. Other vendors use the same two words for their own orchestrators.

The help page gives the upgrade on 20 April 2026 with K2.6: up to 300 subagent instances at once, more than 4,000 tool calls in one task, and a run up to 4.5 times faster than one agent taking the steps in sequence. It attributes the speed to fewer critical steps (about 3 to 4.5 times fewer in large search tasks) from a training method it calls PARL, Parallel-Agent Reinforcement Learning. Those numbers are Moonshot's claims on that page, not a benchmark this site re-ran.

Where you turn it on

The help page lists two entries. On the web, open the agent swarm path on kimi.com. On a phone or tablet, open the Kimi app and choose the swarm model in the switch above the composer. The same page says the product line is now powered by Kimi K3, labeled K3 Swarm, for large parallel search and batch work.

The K2.6 pricing table marks Agent Swarm on paid tiers only. Concurrent subagents are 2 on Moderato, 4 on Allegretto, and 8 on Allegro and Vivace. The 300 figure is the architecture ceiling Moonshot states for the model, not a promise that the $19 plan will launch 300 at once. Your plan's concurrency cap is the number to read. Details are on pricing.

Jobs that match the mode

The help page's examples are wide search, collecting a large set of public sources, processing a batch of documents (it mentions 100 or more), long structured writing, multi-file programming, and office files such as documents, spreadsheets, and slides. Swarm helps when the work can be split. It does not help a one-line edit, and it spends more of the credit pool because more agents run.

If the split is 'read this folder and click this logged-in site,' you want swarm inside Kimi Work, plus the browser extension. If the split is 'keep going after I close the laptop,' look at Kimi Claw. If you only needed the September 2025 name, that history is on OK Computer.

Questions

What is Kimi Agent Swarm?
A Kimi mode that creates many subagents for one task. The help center dates the launch to 27 January 2026 with K2.5, and a K2.6 upgrade on 20 April 2026 that cites 300 subagents and more than 4,000 tool calls.
What are swarm agents?
Agents that work on parts of the same job in parallel, coordinated by the parent task. In Kimi that mechanism is Agent Swarm. Outside Kimi, the phrase can mean a different product.
How many subagents do I actually get?
The pricing table lists 2, 4, or 8 concurrent subagents depending on the paid tier. The 300 number is the ceiling Kimi states for the K2.6 architecture. Use the concurrency on your plan.
Does the free tier include swarm?
The K2.6 pricing table marks Agent Swarm off on the free Adagio row and on for the paid plans. Confirm on the live pricing page before you rely on it.
