What people mean by the Kimi app

Kimi is the chat product from Moonshot AI. A search for the Kimi app, or for Kimi AI app, is usually someone trying to open that chat on a phone or a computer. The same account is meant to work on the website at kimi.com and in the mobile apps Moonshot publishes. This page does not host a download and it does not collect a password.

There is a second desktop product with a different job. Kimi Work is the local agent for files, the browser, and scheduled tasks. The phone app is for chat and for switching models, including the swarm mode described in Kimi's agent help. If a store listing or a website asks you to install an unofficial Kimi APK, skip it and start from kimi.com.

Web chat and the installed app

The fastest way to try Kimi is the website. You open kimi.com, sign in with the method the page shows, and type in the chat box. The installed app is the same conversation product with a phone layout: a thread list, a composer, and a model switch. Moonshot's agent help says the mobile and tablet apps can select the swarm model from that switch.

Kimi AI chat, as a phrase, is this box. It is not a separate chatbot you install beside Kimi. People also type Kimmi, Kami AI, or Kiwi AI when they mean the same product. Those spellings are sorted on the home page. Kami, the classroom PDF tool, and Kiwi Browser are different products.

What to install, and what to skip

Start at kimi.com and use the download or store link printed there. The mobile app and the website chat are the pair most people mean by Kimi AI app. Kimi Work is a separate desktop download for file and browser tasks. You do not need Work to send a chat message. You do need it, plus the extension, if the task is 'click through this site I am already logged into.'

Skip repackaged APKs, 'Kimi Pro cracked' posts, and browser extensions that are not the one Kimi's help center describes. Those are a common way a brand name with a short, easy misspelling gets abused. If the only copy of the app you can find is an attachment, it is the wrong copy. After a clean install, sign-in is the login step on that official client.

What the app does not include by itself

Chat on the website can research and draft. It does not, by itself, click through a site you are already logged into. That browser control is the Kimi browser extension, which Kimi's help center used to call WebBridge, and it is built to work with Kimi Work or another local agent.

Heavy agent runs, slides, and Kimi Code draw on a membership credit pool. The free path and the four paid tiers are on the pricing page, with the dollar figures copied from Kimi's help center and dated. The API is a third door: your own program calls the model, and that bill is separate from the app subscription.

Questions

Is the Kimi app free?
You can open Kimi on the web and in the app without a paid plan. Paid memberships (Moderato at $19 a month and up, on the help-center table checked 25 September 2026) add agent credits, swarm, and tools such as Kimi Claw. Confirm the current free limits on kimi.com.
Kimi app or Kimi Work?
Use the Kimi app or kimi.com when you want a chat. Use Kimi Work when the job has to read local files, drive a logged-in browser, or run on a schedule on that computer.
Can this site log me into Kimi?
No. Kimi Desk is an independent guide. Sign-in happens on kimi.com or in Moonshot's app. See the login page for what to check when the button fails.
What is Kimi AI chat?
It is the chat box on kimi.com and in the Kimi app. Agent mode, OK Computer, and Agent Swarm are ways that same product takes on a longer task.
